History Buried as Shepherd Marks Completion of New Building

Pupils from Armthorpe Tranmoor Point Primary School commemorated the completion of an office and warehouse development at West Moor Park in Doncaster by burying a Time Capsule at the new building.

Designed and constructed by Shepherd Construction for Shepherd Developments and their joint venture partner Scarborough Development Group plc, the building comprises a warehouse and three-storey office block.

Year 4 pupils chose items for the capsule to reflect the construction of the building, local interest, and objects to show people in the future what life in 2003 was like. Pupils who suggested the contents for the capsule each placed their chosen item inside - these included a Doncaster Rovers football shirt, a spanner and a "Now 56" Music CD. The steel capsule was then fastened by Mike Webber, Shepherd Construction's Divisional Managing Director, and buried in the grounds of the new building to preserve a part of 2003 for future generations.

Speaking about the event, Mike Webber said, "The pupils have come up with some great ideas of what should go in the time capsule, and it's burial is a fitting way to commemorate the completion of this fantastic new building and to preserve a part of history."

Construction of the project began in March 2003. With a total floor area of 12,861m2, facilities comprise fully glazed comfort-cooled offices to the front, a feature atrium, a 10-metre high warehouse with ten loading doors, and car parking for 131 cars. The property is available either for rent or sale.

The project has been part financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Objective 1 Programme South Yorkshire.
